PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

This is the "liquid gold" of all facial treatments! There is little to no downtime, and results are truly amazing. We treat acne scars, hair loss, loss of elasticity, and loss of skin volume all with PRP. Read more below!

What is PRP?

Your blood is essentially made up of four main components: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and platelets. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. PRP is a natural product that is created from your own blood. Your blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of red and white blood cells from plasma and platelets (clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

How does it work?

Depending on the treatment area, we will draw a certain amount of blood from you (between 10 and 30mL). We will then run it through the centrifuge which separates the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is extracted from the vial and injected into the treatment area. PRP promotes wound healing and regenerates the growth of collagen and elastin to the area it is injected.

Acne Scars

For acne scaring, we recommend what is sometimes called the "vampire facial." This is a combination between microneedling using the SkinPen and PRP. There is a reason celebrities like Kim Kardashian swear by this treatment! The combination of both services stimulates collagen production to improve skin elasticity, texture and tone as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and large pores. If you are looking for dramatic results, this is definitely the treatment for you!

Hair Loss

PRP can also be successfully used to treat thinning hair and hair loss, particularly male pattern baldness. Just as with acne scar treatment, blood is drawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge. After it is spun and separated, the PRP is injected directly into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles. Injections are made approximately at every half inch over the area of thinning hair. The PRP helps stimulate the activity of the hair follicles and promote new hair growth. Clients will first notice less hair shedding followed by new hair growth and lengthening.

It is recommended that patients receive three treatments at four to six week intervals.
