Bio-identical HRT

What is it?

We use bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) pellets, which contain testosterone or estrogen that the body sees as identical to what it produces naturally.

Who can benefit?

Our most common beneficiary of BHRTs are post-menopausal women experiencing side effects such as hot flashes, fatigue, weight gain, low libido, or trouble sleeping. However, we also treat men with low testosterone! We will always run labs before starting hormone replacement.

Am I a good candidate?

When considering HRT, you will meet with a provider (NP, PA, or MD) to have a full discussion on the risks and benefits of HRT depending on what symptoms you are experiencing. We may also recommend other testing such as thyroid function tests. Estrogen therapy has several associated risks and is not appropriate for those who are smokers, have a history of breast cancer, or are at high risk for clotting.

When will I see results and how long do pellets last?

Most BHRT pellet therapy patients report relief as early as four weeks or less, while some see the most benefits after their second insertion. BioTE pellets typically last 3-6mo, depending on the patient's individual needs and activity level.

What are hormone pellets?

Hormone pellets are subcutaneous pellets which are inserted into the upper buttocks area during an in-office visit. There is no down time, our patients are in and out of the office within 30 minutes or less.

What does your program include?

Our comprehensive program includes weekly office visits with a nutritionist, medication when appropriate, body composition scanning, lipotropic injections, and a lab panel. It is a 16 week all inclusive program which has shown to be extremely effective for our patients.

Can I use insurance?

Unfortunately, insurance policies do not typically cover medical weight loss programs. We are only accepting cash pay at this time. However, if you would like to make an appointment with one of our providers at the internal medicine clinic to discuss medications and labs separate from the comprehensive program, you can absolutely bill this with your insurance. There will be no nutritionist, body composition scanning, or lipotropic injections included.

What is MEDICAL weight loss?

Dr. Bates is a board certified physician in both internal medicine and obesity medicine. She has created this program to combine FDA approved treatments with a holistic approach to promote significant and lasting results when it comes to weight loss and health overall. It is a combination of lab testing, medication, and lifestyle changes which are all overseen by a team of healhcare professionals.
